Faith Over Fear!

Stomp on the Devil’s Head!

Hey just sitting here in my thoughts and as I am thinking about my faith and things I have gone through, I was thinking about how one of the most profound challenges believers face is overcoming fear. Whether it’s fear of the unknown, fear of failure, or fear of stepping out in obedience to God’s calling, these anxieties can often grow larger than our trust in God. Yet, the Scriptures repeatedly encourage us to let our faith be bigger than our fears. Let’s delve into how Christian believers can nurture a faith that triumphs over fear.

1. Anchor Your Faith in God’s Promises

God’s promises are a rock-solid foundation for our faith. In Isaiah 41:10, God assures us, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This promise reminds us that God’s presence and strength overshadow any fear we may encounter.

2. Cultivate a Spirit of Prayer and Trust

Prayer is not merely a religious ritual but a powerful means of connecting with God and surrendering our fears to Him. Philippians 4:6-7 urges us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Trusting in God’s sovereignty through prayer helps diminish fear’s grip on our hearts. We say that God is our best friend right? So don’t you talk to your friends, especially your best friend?

3. Immerse Yourself in God’s Word

The Bible is full of stories of ordinary people who faced daunting challenges with unwavering faith. Hebrews 11, often called the “Hall of Faith,” recounts how individuals like Abraham, Moses, and Rahab triumphed over fear through their trust in God. Romans 10:17 reminds us, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” By immersing ourselves in Scripture, we fortify our faith and diminish our fears.

4. Surround Yourself with a Community of Believers

Christian fellowship plays a crucial role in nurturing our faith. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 emphasizes the strength found in community: “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow.” A supportive community of believers can provide encouragement, prayer, and accountability, helping us face fears with collective strength. This is one of the reasons I created the Speak Life Kingdom Builders Community. We need spiritual community to continue to flourish and grow in our faith!

5. Step Out in Faithful Obedience

Often, the most significant breakthroughs in our spiritual journey come when we step out in obedience to God, despite our fears. Joshua 1:9 exhorts us, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” When we align our actions with God’s will, our faith grows, and our fears diminish in the light of His presence.

So, while fear may be a natural human emotion, as Christian believers, we are called to a higher purpose—to let our faith in God transcend our fears. By anchoring ourselves in God’s promises, cultivating prayerful trust, immersing ourselves in His Word, nurturing Christian fellowship, and stepping out in faithful obedience, we can experience the transformative power of faith over fear. Let us embrace this journey with courage, knowing that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). As you navigate your path of faith, may your trust in God continue to grow, making your faith indeed bigger than your fears.
