The Weight Of Your Words
Encouragement is a powerful tool that can change someone’s life but yet often times we hold back from saying what God has given us to say because we think it’s not important or the person doesn’t need or want to hear what we have to say. We allow the enemy to discourage us into thinking that our words don’t matter or hold any weight. Someone is praying for strength from God and God is sending that strength through your encouraging words but you refuse to allow God to use you! Why?
It has been taught to us over and over all our lives how great an affect our negative words have on others but what about our positive words? Are you aware of the great impact that your positive words can have on yourself and those around you? Words are a powerful tool that can either give life or take it away! Proverbs 18:21 tells us that Death and life are in the power of the tongue, yet we don’t believe our words can give life!
We should commit to giving life through our words and being obedient when God gives us encouraging words to give to someone else! Never allow the enemy to make you believe that your words are insignificant and that the person doesn’t need to hear what you have to say! It’s not you but it’s God speaking through you!
Think about a time in your life when someone’s words changed the course of your life or made such a big impact on you that it changed how you view yourself or life in general. What path would you have taken if those words weren’t spoken to you?
As you encourage others you will be reminded of Proverbs 11:25 which tells us that as we encourage others, we also will be encouraged. No, it doesn’t mean our problems will go away but it will help us focus more on God’s power and love for us instead of what our problems are. Cast your cares on God and He will be your strength as you help to strengthen others.
Make a commitment today to speak life, not only to yourself but to others as well! Allow God to use you for His service and speak through you to encourage, uplift, and empower someone in the right direction to their God given purpose!
