What Are You Covering
Why do we choose to cover up our flaws instead of exposing them so God can use it as an example of his delivering power? God loves us flaws and all and He can only use us if we’ve been through something that we can testify about so why cover them? A business owner cannot use you for advertisement if you have never needed their products or services because you can’t be a witness to the truthfulness or quality! So how can God use us if we’ve never been through anything and never needed Him?
Often we think that if we bury it and forget about it then we are good or sometimes we don’t even know it’s there until something happens to make it resurface! We must realize that it is okay to be flawed because we all are flawed and we can take the disguise off and be who we are and give our flaws to God! Be open and honest with God about your flaws and your fears so he can make and mold you. If we try to keep on a disguise and cover everything up we will never reach our purpose in God! He gave you your specific flaws for a reason and wants to use you for a specific purpose but you have to allow Him to do that. He cannot help you reach your purpose in Him with a disguise on covering up everything that can be used to show His Glory and His power!
So what are you covering with your disguise? What is it that you don’t want anyone to see? If you don’t talk to God about your flaws and your fears, you will never be successful in having relationships with others that you need to have in order to be an influence in someones life. God wants you to take off the mask and be real with Him first so you can be real with others! Romans 12:9 tells us to love from the center of who we are and not to be fake about who we are. We can’t be afraid of exposure or being rejected or being hurt. God didn’t give us the spirit of fear and He wants to use everything we are and everything we’ve been through for His glory and to bring us to our purpose in Him! We can’t be afraid to remove the disguise and be authentic in Him!
No one is perfect or has it all together, so why do we put on the disguise? Why do we fake like we got it all figured out? 1 Corinthians 2:11 tells us that no one really knows all about someone else except that person, and even we don’t know ourselves as well as the one who created us!
We must choose to overcome the fear of exposure by walking in the light of God! We must choose to overcome the fear of rejection and the opinions of other people by trusting in God’s love because He has the greatest love that we can ever experience! We must choose to overcome the fear of being hurt again by allowing God to give us a new heart and make us new! Ezekiel 36:26 tells us that God will give us a new heart and put the right spirit in us!
We have to take off the disguise and allow God to take us from being fake to being authentic in Him! Some of us have been wearing the disguise for so long that we don’t realize it’s a disguise! We have to really search ourselves and open up to God so that we are not hiding behind a disguise. We need to be bold enough to be real and be authentic just the way God made us!
Many of us have outgrown the need to disguise ourselves for Halloween but feel the need to stay in disguise or change who we are for other people on an everyday or Sunday morning basis! Take off the disguise! Allow God to make you comfortable being who He made you to be! He needs the REAL or AUTHENTIC you, so He can bring you to your full purpose in Him!
Take off the disguise and allow God to use you!
