Do You Want More?
Have you ever went to a feast where there was so much food everywhere and it was all free and you could eat as much as you want? Did you hold back because you didn’t want to look greedy, or did you eat as much as you wanted? Did you leave the feast or party full to capacity or were you still wanting more?
Many of us have worry and stress and frustration, but have we thought about the fact that if we find ourselves frustrated and overwhelmed too often then that means we are spending less time with God and more time with the cares of this world??? Yes I know that we are human and at first we react by being frustrated or worried but as a believer of Christ, if we are spending more time with God and having a closer relationship with Him, we would not have to carry these burdens! I grew up knowing that but putting it into practice was a whole other issue! I would go to church and agree with everything the pastor said about having to know God but never put it into action. I would wonder why I carried so much burden and stress when I knew I loved the Lord! You see, we can be very knowledgeable about a lot of things including the Bible but it’s all hearsay until we get to know him for ourselves! We must remember that we can never know Him fully because we don’t have the capacity to understand everything so there is always more to learn about our Savior! We must STAY HUNGRY! We must continue to want more of Him! In Hosea 6:3 the prophet Hosea talks about us pressing on to know the Lord. The main purpose of Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:15-23 is that we get to know God more deeply. Jesus gave us instructions and paved the way for us and gave us a way to get to know him and have a relationship with Him but we must STAY HUNGRY for him and God’s Word!
To have a personal relationship with someone, you must spend quality time with them, take the time to learn their ways, and have conversation regularly. We have every opportunity to get to know God more deeply and eat all the knowledge that we can handle, so why do we ignore our hunger? Why do we walk away still needing more? It takes continuous effort to continue having a closer relationship with someone. We can’t just stop and say “Ok I know enough.” When you have a close relationship with someone but then don’t communicate with them for a while, you no longer have that close relationship and need to catch up and learn that person all over again.
We have to learn to keep that fire burning and continue to STAY HUNGRY for God’s Word and communication with Him. We know that we need to continue to seek God and learn His ways but are we putting it into action! I may know that I need to exercise and eat right to stay healthy and of course I want to stay healthy but if I don’t plan my meals and schedule my exercise time then the knowledge of knowing what I need to do will all be in vain.
Let us all start making a conscious effort to exercise our freedom to know God more deeply and STAY HUNGRY for Him! If we do, it will set us free and we will be less frustrated, less worried, less overwhelmed and be more FREE in our minds and hearts!
Be FREE and STAY HUNGRY for God!
